Sharing Windows 7 media with PS3 or other devices

Being able to watch media located on a server via a streaming process from my PS3 is the main reason for my purchase of the PS3. Here are the steps to follow in order to enable media sharing with Windows 7 and as I understand the process is similar to Windows Vista.
First got to control panel
Enable to following settings
Launch windows media player
Add libarary
Software
Watch the streams
