Real Time Strategy for Consoles

In regards to gaming it is really a matter of taste. Now the PS2 has served me well however current PS2 games showed on a large HD TV does not look that great.
Then again is it really a big deal. After some soul searching I
figured that when I first discovered video
games that platformers were my choice.
Then I really got into racing and the PS2 had a nice collection. I never really liked the PC for gaming because of the constant tweaking and upgrade cycle.
At least a console lifetime is about 5 years and stable as opposed to a much shorter lifetime for directx games.
I remember a few years ago that my PC at the time was capable of playing Command and Conquer General and this is when
I discovered RTS gaming and that deep down this my kind of gaming entertainment.
Now I remember not wanting to upgrade my console to XBOX 360 because of the lack of a built in web browser along with the numerous problems
reported on the web. When the PS3 came out I wondered if this was the end
for me in regards to gaming.
I know that that games are in High Definition and should look good and a large screen but is not the same cycle over again with the same gaming
genre that only look better? It is unfortunate that Microsoft and Sony have little or no RTS for their gaming consoles. I do not mind using a
keyboard and mouse has controllers for such game types.
I now find myself wanting to get back into PC gaming especially for the RTS which is being served adequately
for the PC platform.
Games like Command and Conquer 3, Supreme Commander and Company of Heroes and upcoming StartCraft II should keep my RTS needs in check for a while.
So here I am with a desktop PC and a laptop not fitted for these games. Now that the dual cores are out and directx 10 on the way I am debating if I should get a gaming laptop
or concentrate on upgrading or adding a second desktop to my tool kit. The Asus G1s is very
tempting has a 2 years warranty, directx 10 capable,
15” screen and can play all current RTS games. Obviously the new lappy would be used for both business and pleasure and ask myself if I really need to game on the go
has opposed to being tied to a 24” inch LCD at home or better a large HD.
Apparently on can use and express card has a docking station but no sure if it would be worth it since I can directly connect digitally the lappy to the 24” and use a wireless keyboard and mouse.
